Lotus, Kimi Raikkonen: “We can find at least another 4 tenths”

Kimi Raikkonen thinks he will be able to find at least another four-tenths of a second for the rest of the weekend in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Lotus driver struggled with the handling of his car during Friday practice but admitted he was surprised by how fast it is despite his problems.

Raikkonen, who ran with the new Coanda exhausts, finished the second session in sixth position, around seven tenths of a second behind leader Sebastian Vettel.

The Finn hopes to get closer to the cars in front if he can resolve the problems that hindered him today.

“We tried the new exhausts, but they didn't change the car much,” he said.

“But the lap time looks pretty good. I'm a little surprised at how good the weather was even though the car wasn't very pleasant to drive.”

“We hope we can improve and I think there should certainly be at least four tenths, I would say, if we do the right things, but unfortunately we don't always succeed.”

“Usually it's a bit of a compromise here and there, but in the last race we had a very good car until we changed the set-up and it wasn't exactly how we wanted anymore. But if we have a similar feeling with the car it should be good.”

Raikkonen also said he had no problems with the tyres, even though he didn't finish a long run.

“The tires were working well and we didn't see any problems.”

“We didn't have time to do a long run, we tried to make a comparison between the two compounds.”
