Lotus: the comments of Grosjean and Maldonado at the end of free practice in Singapore
Romain Grosjean completed the first day of free practice for the Singapore Grand Prix with a solid 59 laps around the Marina Bay Circuit with the twelfth fastest time in the second session. Pastor Maldonado finished the day with the fourteenth fastest time with 38 laps completed, despite an early finish following contact with the barriers.
Romain Grosjean: “The car worked well today, better than previous races, this is something we expected, but still it's good when it goes the way it was expected. With more downforce on the wings of the car it works better. We also had a couple of new parts to try on the car. Some worked very well and some gave us a good idea of the direction to take next year's car."
Pastor Maldonado: “We have made a step forward here in terms of our pace and we are much closer to top ten times. Let's hope to be a little more competitive for the race. The balance was compromised when the tires were a bit worn and I lost the car in the middle of the corner, then the exit is quite narrow there and that meant there was nowhere to go so that was the end of my session. “
