Lotus frustrated by the ban on the use of the chassis tab

James Allison plays down the impact of the ban on the new Lotus E20

Eric boullier admitted he was frustrated by the FIA's decision to ban the chassis stability corrector.

The English team would have liked to get an edge with this device, but when some teams exposed the issue to FIA the latter declared the illegality of the device (despite having initially confirmed the legality of the latter).

“We have invested time and money in the project and have also informed the FIA of all our progress."

“It was frustrating, but it won't have any impact on our performance,” said the Lotus team principal.

“We are not stupid, in fact we informed the FIA at every step of the project. We believed we would benefit from it, but in any case the benefits would not have been massive."

This last aspect was also explained by the head of the team's technicians James allison.

“We weren't going to use it on the car from the start. It was simply part of a development program."
