Lotus E22: technical analysis

"Double nose" for the Enstone single-seater

Let us try, despite the only photo spread online, to do a small analysis of the new Lotus. On a mechanical level, no surprises as the suspension systems from last season have been confirmed: front push rod and rotating pull rod suspension at the rear.

The technical solution designed for the front end is very interesting, in which the Lotus aerodynamicists have chosen to extend the front wing struts creating a real "double nose". There are also two small struts that connect the double nose to the front wing. Will there also be a trunk?

This solution allows you to create a real Venturi channel in the central area which allows the bottom and the diffuser to be supplied with a good quantity of air.

The cooling vents are much smaller than those of the Mercedes. This means that the new Power Unit needs less air to cool its internal components (including the turbo intercooler).

The Coca-Cola area is very tapered and has an opening in the end area of the bonnet into which the hot air coming from the radiators is channeled.

The central support of the rear wing is present under which the exhaust pipe appears to blow.
The car seems interesting especially for the cleanliness in the rear area. For a more detailed analysis we will have to wait for the Bahrain tests as the Lotus E22 will not be present in Jerez.
