Lopez: “In 2014 we want victories and podiums”

In a long interview with Infosport+ Gerard Lopez, co-owner and team principal Lotus, took stock of the current state of the team, responding to speculation in the press that it would be adrift.

“A few weeks ago I read in the newspapers that we would not be on the grid in Melbourne for economic reasons, so I imagine that the test done over the weekend in Jerez may have appeared to everyone as a sort of miracle – he declared – In reality there is no there was never any reason to believe the team wouldn't make it. The fact that we didn't suffer the same problems complained about by Red Bull and other teams could be due precisely to the choice to work harder in the factory rather than going to the track straight away."

“What we want from 2014 is to win races, get on the podium and look to the championship after a couple of complicated seasons, especially at the end – continued the manager – I hope we can start in a positive way and I am convinced that the E22 has the right characteristics to succeed. The only unknown remains the engine, however Renault they assured us that everything will be fine and we trust them."
