Report cards from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Last season report cards of the race that crowns Lewis Hamilton world champion for the second time.

LEWIS HAMILTON

VOTE: 10

World Champion! Prince Henry himself congratulates the English driver: Lewis is world champion for the second time. An almost perfect season, still some traces of nervousness that melt into the tears hidden behind the helmet: Lewis fought until the last race, he was constant and always focused. He had his problems and difficulties, but he also demonstrated a new maturity, which we hope will be completely completed with this second title. “You're a legend now.”

FELIPE MASSA

VOTE: 9

Having savored the first position for a few laps, the Brazilian driver put in a very good performance right from the start of the race: he immediately started strong and remained constant in the top positions, worrying Lewis, but Williams decided not to risk it, bringing Felipe back in for the final pit stop, giving him the joy of second place and leaving Lewis with the peace of mind of victory.

VALTTERI BOTTAS

VOTE: 8

The Finnish driver finishes in third position after a disastrous start: he still shows great character in overtaking and the desire to do well. The start of the race needs to be perfected, but also at the end of the season Valtteri reveals himself to be an excellent promise for the future.

DANIEL RICCIARDO

VOTE: 9

Super comeback for the Red Bull driver who started from the pit lane together with his teammate, managing to finish in fourth place in a race dictated by a good strategy but also by many overtaking. He ends this year well as a "newbie" in Red Bull, with three victories under his belt: now he becomes the host, we'll see what he'll be able to do.

JENSON BUTTON

VOTE: 8

“Give that man a car”, this is the personal comment on Jenson's performance: at the end of the season he returned to demonstrate his abilities, in particular compared to the results of his teammate. The idea that Abu Dhabi was probably his last Formula 1 Grand Prix puts a strain on the judgment used to choose drivers. We'll see how the situation evolves, hoping to find him back on track in March.

NICO HULKENBERG

VOTE: 7.5

Good performance from the Force India driver who juggles quite well between one overtaking and another, finishing ahead of his teammate.

SERGIO PEREZ

VOTE: 7

A fairly anonymous race for the Mexican driver who finished in seventh position, well, but without being noticed except for a few overtakings.

SEBASTIAN VETTEL

VOTE: 7

A good comeback for the German driver, who started from the pit lane, but far from his teammate, who also started from the pit lane: the season was difficult, but it is now or finally over. His adventure in Red Bull has also come to an end, where he won his four world titles: a great challenge awaits him in red and the world is waiting to see what he will be able to do there too.

FERNANDO ALONSO

VOTE: 6.5

A final Grand Prix in red dictated once again by his characteristic tenacity in wanting to bring the best out of the most difficult situations. A critical season has come to an end and a great Ferrari chapter for him too. Everyone is waiting to know what will become of his future, with the certainty and hope of seeing him fight further ahead than he has done to date.

KIMI RAIKKONEN

VOTE: 6

Some flashes of determination associated with moments of total deconcentration: this is the Finnish driver's race which describes his entire season. The year just ended was certainly a difficult year for his car, but Kimi also put his best foot forward. We hope to see him back next year in better shape.

KEVIN MAGNUSSEN

VOTE: 5

Bad performance for the McLaren driver: the one who was supposed to be the young promise to focus on and instead remains at the back, far away from his teammate, who however remained without a seat. The excuse of the single-seater is not acceptable, with the same car, his teammate manages to bring out much better performances than him.

JEAN-ERIC VERGNE

VOTE: 6.5

Good performance from the Frenchman who wins the best maneuver of the race when he tries to resist Ricciardo. The probable service that ToroRosso has announced to him for 2016 must be a positive wake-up call for him: in the next season it will be essential to get noticed for his abilities, in order to find a new seat.

ROMAIN GROSJEAN

VOTE: 6

The French driver took his car to the end of the race and to the end of the season, concluding a terrible year for him and his team. Simply the best wishes for a better 2015 because Romain deserves something more.

NICO ROSBERG

VOTE: 10

Overlooking any type of comment both on the German's mistakes and on the failure of the recovery system, honor goes to the German driver who not only tries to fight to the end, but asks to be able to finish the race despite the team telling him to return to the pits for the single-seater's too many problems, he concludes the race and goes up to pay honors and congratulations to his new world champion companion. A demonstration of humility, humanity and professionalism that very few other drivers would have been able to demonstrate, Lewis first and foremost. A great season which unfortunately Nico was unable to crown with the world title, but with the knowledge of being able to fight again next season.

ESTEBAN GUTIERREZ

VOTE: 5

A race and a season not without difficulties have also come to an end for Gutierrez, with the hope of a better 2015.

ADRIAN SUTIL

VOTE: 5

Penultimate, he finishes the race in anonymity.

WILL STEVENS

VOTE: 7

Not a bad performance from the young rookie who, after a less than brilliant qualifying, driving a Catheram, managed to demonstrate in the race that he has grit and courage. He finishes in last position, but fights with each driver who comes alongside him: no world title and no precedence, even when a driver of the caliber of Fernando Alonso is placed next to him. He runs his race and wants the best: unfortunately you can't get much from the car, but his demonstration of character wasn't bad at all.

KAMUI KOBAYASHI

VOTE: 5

He retires to the now total anonymity of his races.

PASTOR MALDONADO

VOTE: 5

The laughter of the Lotus mechanics as they saw his car on fire describes this driver's race and season better than a thousand words. Race and year to be closed, sealed, archived in the most remote memories and never reopened again.

DANIIL KVYAT

VOTE: 6

It's a shame about the retirement, the weekend had started in the best way possible, with an excellent qualifying and a good race pace.
