The report cards of the Chinese Grand Prix

This year's Easter egg had to wait: here are the report cards from the Chinese Grand Prix which brought nice surprises for some and some disappointment for others.

Lewis Hamilton

Rating: 10

Another excellent weekend for Lewis Hamilton who took home pole and victory, commanding the entire race from start to finish: unattainable, after an excellent start he remained ahead of everyone, making a small error in concentration, but demonstrating in all ways his superiority and that of his car and equaling the 25 career victories of his boss, Niki Lauda.

Nico Rosberg

Rating: 8.5

For any driver, a second place is still a good result, but not for Nico who, with a great Mercedes in his hands, struggles a lot to keep up with his teammate with a difficult start and an equally difficult first part of the race: not exactly satisfied of his performance, however, he managed to maintain first place in the drivers' championship.

Fernando Alonso

Rating: 9

Finally we can define the Spanish driver's performance as an excellent one: a race always in progress, he is only put in difficulty by the Mercedes, who are still far from the Red team in terms of performance standards. The first podium arrives at the debut of the new team principal: whoever starts well is already halfway there. This is what all Ferrari fans hope for. The dedication of the podium to Domenicali is a must: now the Ferrari future is in Mattiacci's hands, we'll see.

Daniel Ricciardo

Rating: 7

Still difficulties for the Redbulls, but Daniel still manages to adapt quickly and easily to the "no" moments and make the most of what he has in his hands: despite the lower aerodynamic load he drives better than his teammate and moves into fourth position, without pay attention to any type of hierarchy.

Sebastian Vettel

Rating: 5.5

Crisis for the four-time world champion? Given that he certainly doesn't have the best car on the track in his hands, it is however essential that he reacts as best as possible and as soon as possible to this situation: it is precisely in moments of difficulty that true champions must demonstrate the talent they have.

Nico Hulkenberg

Rating: 7.5

Always good and always constant: these are the words to describe the young Hulk who continues race after race to bring home excellent results, showing excellent driving and great talent. We are confident in a great season in the hope of seeing him in some top team.

Valtteri Bottas

Rating: 7

Williams continues to show its great qualities: despite the contact with Rosberg at the start of the race, his car does not suffer any damage and Valtteri drives it to the best of his ability, although there is still something to improve, like everyone else, the foundations from which leaving are the best.

Kimi Raikkonen

Rating: 6

Another anonymous race for Kimi who misses part of Friday's free practice and is unable to find either the performance in qualifying or a sufficient race pace for a good placing or at least for a placing not so far from his teammate. A turning point is needed, immediately.

Sergio Perez

Rating: 7.5

After a Saturday dictated by a terrible qualifying which forced him to start from the eighth row, Sergio managed to concentrate and recover seven positions.

Daniil Kvyat

Rating: 7

Another good race for the young Russian who more or less consistently manages to always score points with his Toro Rosso: in his debut year in Formula 1, it is very important that he demonstrates his abilities as he is doing.

Jenson Button

Rating: 6-

It was also an anonymous race for Button: a terrible start which caused him to lose eight positions was followed by a comeback which was not worthy of a champion like him, who was unable to get into the points. Everything to review.

Jean-Eric Vergne

Rating: 5.5

If his teammate is putting one good performance after another, the French driver proves to be in greater difficulty, finishing the race with three positions more, far from the points zone and from his teammate.

Kevin Magnussen

Rating: 5.5

Unfortunately, there are still difficulties for the rookie Magnussen who not only is no longer able to repeat the great performance of the beginning of the season, but is also unable to get close to the points zone, although he recovers two positions compared to the starting grid, the result of a terrible qualification.

Pastor Maldonado

Rating: 6

Incredibly, the first good performances of Lotus are starting to appear: the light is starting to be seen outside the tunnel, but a tunnel that is probably still very long. Work, work, work: these are the watchwords that resonate in the heads of the whole team, especially when the driver ruins the car in free practice 3.

Felipe Massa

Rating: 6.5

The Williams mechanics severely failed and compromised Felipe's race: after a slightly too impetuous start and difficulties in the pit stop, Felipe was unable to recover as many positions as he could but still had a good race, moving from the back of the grid to fifteenth position.

Esteban Gutierrez

Rating: 6.5

A sixteenth place which was certainly not satisfactory but sufficient for the Sauber driver who managed to keep the Catherams and Marussias behind him and managed, unlike his teammate, to bring the car to the end of the race without problems.

Jules Bianchi

Rating: 6.5

In the fight between the smaller teams, the French driver was unable to get the better of Gutierrez but maintained the advantage over his teammate and the two Catherams, demonstrating good driving skills in hand-to-hand combat.

Kamui Kobayashi

Rating: 6.5

Race at the back for Kobayashi who was in difficulty all weekend: badly in qualifying, he couldn't find the race pace and had to settle for an eighteenth place. But he gives us the pearl of the day by splitting from Vettel, thus infuriating the German driver.

Max Chilton

Rating: 5

Difficult weekend for Chilton, also perpetually at the back: still a lot to improve and develop.

Marcus Ericsson

Rating: 5

Marcus Ericsson had a terrible weekend, practically always finding himself in last position: not much to comment on other than a wish for progress as soon as possible, at least compared to the Marussias.

Romain Grosjean

Rating: 7.5

Although he was forced to retire, the French driver still had a good weekend: finally we can see some improvement in the car and consequently in the driver, even more than his teammate. All that remains is to wait for his return among the top drivers: one more car to fight can only be good.

Adrian Sutil

Rating: yes
