F1 team harmony still in doubt after FOTA meeting

In Brazil, the agreement on the self-limitation of resources in F1 with a view to reducing costs (RRA) has almost collapsed in Brazil. A FOTA meeting on Friday in Interlagos would have been decisive in this sense.

“Judging by the faces of the team bosses it was not a success” we read in Auto Motor und Sport.

Red Bull's Christian Horner confirmed: "We have met and decided that the RRA will be suspended to try to find a solution."

The decision could lead to the dissolution of FOTA but some rivals reacted with surprise to Horner's announcement at the press conference.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, it emerged from Friday's meeting that the four top teams – Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes – will meet each other to discuss this further.

Red Bull, covertly accused of having violated the agreements on cost reduction, would be under pressure since one of the proposals is to transform the agreement into a rule and therefore make any violations punishable in sporting terms.

It would also have emerged that McLaren has 646 employees, more than double the number currently admitted.
