Alonso's farewell was a "forced" choice according to Massa
Felipe talks about the Spaniard's departure from Ferrari
A few days after the official move of two-time world champion Fernando Alonso from Ferrari to McLaren-Honda, Felipe Massa expresses his opinion on the pages of Autosport.
Felipe knows Fernando very well, given that they were teammates at Ferrari for four years: he talks about the Spaniard's need for a change of scenery and doesn't hide the idea that if Ferrari were so uncompetitive, it's partly his responsibility too.
“Everyone knew he was leaving Ferrari, so McLaren's announcement wasn't breaking news. We saw that Ferrari failed to give him the car he expected, but perhaps he also didn't help Ferrari grow. For him, however, the time had come to change": these are the exact words of the Williams representative.
Regarding the Ferrari's new entry, Sebastian Vettel: “It's difficult to say whether things will go better for Ferrari now, also because perhaps Fernando is the strongest driver on the grid. We have to wait and see, but I can only wish Ferrari the best."
