Williams will use KERS in Australia

Williams has decided to send its FW33s on track with KERS in the opening race of the season. Rubens Barrichello said last week that the team was uncertain about using the device, due to some technical problems that were not fully understood.

The latest failure, which occurred in Barcelona, had prompted technical director Sam Michael to declare to Auto Motor und Sport: “We know what caused the failure, but we don't know why. Its use in Barcelona is worth at least 4 tenths per lap.”
A Williams spokesperson wrote on Twitter: “Just spoke to Sam. He is in the factory with the other designers. They reanalyzed the problem at KERS, and now we will be able to use it in Melbourne.”
Sam Michael also said that the team expects a big step forward for Malaysia when an exhaust system similar to the Red Bull one is ready.
