Telmex denies having acquired partial control of Sauber

Telmex, led by one of the richest men in the world, Carlos Slim, will have a significant role in the development of the C30, next year's Sauber car, as will the young Mexican driver, Sergio Perèz, who will debut next year .

But team boss Peter Sauber has denied ever considering selling his team to Telmex, and Slim's son, Carlos Slim Domit – president of the Mexico City-based company – has also He stated that the agreement concerns exclusively sponsorship.
Some speculation about Telmex's influence on the team had been increased by rumors that Sauber would prefer to pair Nick Heidfeld with Komui Kobayashi next year.
“We are just an ally (for Sauber),” Slim commented to the Mexican press. “The structure and decisions about the team are their business.”
“(Between us) There is a purely commercial agreement,” he added.
Slim Domit also denied that the decision to appoint Perèz as the next Sauber driver was a clause included in the sponsorship agreement.
He said the Hinwil-based team signed the contract with Perèz before Telmex decided to sponsor Sauber.
Sauber's 2011 test and reserve driver, Esteban Gutierrez, the first GP3 champion, is also Mexican and sponsored by Telmex.
