Renault is surprised by Nick Heidfeld's reaction
Nick Heidfeld surprised Renault with its reactions to the replacement for two races with the Brazilian Bruno senna.
The German tried to assert himself by suing the French team in order to strengthen his contract with the team until the Pole returns.
The court ruled that Senna will be allowed to race for the next two races, before the court can meet and decide anything after the Italian Grand Prix. The German was however present in Spa, to demonstrate that he did not violate the contract, at least on his part.
“I was surprised,” he said Gerard López, president of Genii, at Tageblatt Luxembourg. “I would say it's quite an emotional reaction.”
Lopez, however, defended the choice to replace Heidfeld with Senna.
“His performance wasn't good, so we needed to try other drivers,” he insisted. “Nick has always been a good driver, but we told him this wasn't what we expected.”
“We have always treated him with respect and this will continue, because he is always part of the team.”
