Red Bull rises to the top in the latest round of testing

On Tuesday in Jerez, both Mark and David completed their planned work programme, and while the Scotsman worked on aerodynamic development, Mark concentrated on fine-tuning the mechanical set-up. Both completed a high mileage, clocking up over one hundred laps each. The only bad note of the day was the strong wind that blew in the afternoon, when both pilots were engaged in long runs.

The windy conditions on Wednesday made it difficult to outline any clear results regarding the aerodynamic development or balance of the cars. Regardless, Mark had a positive day of testing, exploring the performance potential of the new car, so much so that he set the fastest lap time of the day. The Australian also had to make some unscheduled stops, while David was able to complete his scheduled test program in full.

On the last day of this private testing session, David Coulthard was only separated from the top of the standings by a McLaren. He and Mark Webber both completed a great mileage of testing on a day when track conditions, at least in the morning, improved markedly thanks to the easing of the strong winds that had disturbed the previous two days. “All things considered, it was a really positive session for us, as we completed our entire program and covered even more laps than we had planned,” commented Test Team Chief Engineer Ian Morgan. “Over the course of these three days, we have carried out a lot of aerodynamic and mechanical development work, without encountering any significant problems, so we can look forward with confidence to the remaining pre-season preparation session, which will take place in Barcelona.”
