Red Bull improved thanks to the exhaust layout, not the DDRS

Not just Double-DRS, many improvements for Vettel and Webber's cars

Red Bull improved thanks to the exhaust layout, not the DDRS

It's simplistic to say that Red Bull is back in the title fight thanks to its new Double DRS.

Sebastian Vettel he returned as the title favorite after the Suzuka Grand Prix, bringing its gap to just four points and after this GP it emerged that Red Bull has been equipped with a new double-DRS system and many other improvements.

“With all these new things, it is impossible to say what was the main aspect that improved the car” declared the boss of Red Bull Christian Horner on the sidelines of the Japanese Grand Prix.

“I believe we have made progress in all areas.”

However, the newspaper Der Tagesspiegel, through its correspondent Karim Sturm, declared that the Williams technical chief Mark Gillan he suspects there is something else at play.

“I will have to carefully analyze the race data with all the relevant times,” said Gillan.

“Maybe we can find out what they did.”

The former F1 driver and now RTL commentator Christian Danner he suspects that Red Bull has found the key to the problem with a new solution to the exhaust layout.

“These kinds of improvements always concern aerodynamics and with today's cars the use of different exhaust layouts can greatly vary the performance of the cars.”
