Red Bull changes its nose: a Williams-style nose will debut in Barcelona

In Jerez de la Frontera we saw it a Red Bull plodding along, as happened at the beginning of last year. Despite the camouflage, the shapes of the single-seater from Milton Keynes are always extremely refined but, on the occasion of the second collective winter testing session in Barcelona, the Austrians themselves are apparently thinking of a notable change to try on the car. Well before hitting the asphalt for the first time, the RB11 was able to obtain approval at the last minute from the Federation and, according to some rumours, the part that created the most problems for the Austrian team during the crash test was precisely the muzzle.

A low nose, characterized by a more conspicuous step compared to its direct opponents and equipped with a slightly concave shape in the widest and flattest area of the terminal section. In Milton Keynes they are ready to change the nose. In all likelihood, the Red Bull that we will see on the track in Barcelona will have a Williams FW37 style nose which, due to its characteristics, has proven more aerodynamic. The changes in the technical regulations that have been introduced in Formula 1 since 2015 have given the teams a headache and in particular their designers who have had to find an adequate solution to maximize the air flow towards the rear of the car.

The nose that Red Bull will mount in Barcelona will abandon the protuberance that emerges immediately after the wing supports and which ends at the bottom with a small bulge, to introduce a shorter nose which, however, apparently, has yet to pass crash tests imposed by the International Federation.
