Pirelli changes the way it brands the different compounds
To try to make it easier for fans to distinguish between tyres, on the occasion of this Malaysian GP, Pirelli has decided to place a golden stripe on the soft tyres.
Following complaints received during the Australian GP that it was difficult to distinguish the hard tires from the soft ones, Pirelli has decided, at least for this weekend, to remedy the situation with a temporary change.
Paul Hembery, the director of Pirelli Motorsport, announced that a permanent change will be made official starting from the first race in Europe and continued: “We have been warned that fans struggle to distinguish the tires due to the color of the stripes . For Turkey we will place a much more visible marking on the shoulder of the tires and the stripe will be omitted. The words Pirelli and P-Zero will be connected with multiple color bands. This means that when the tire rotates, black will not be dominant. It will look like a swirl of yellow, and the yellow will be predominant. We will adopt the same marking technique for each compound and from the tests done so far it seems to work very well."
