The new McLaren MP4-29 would have failed crash tests

According to rumors, the new McLaren MP4-29 designed by Matt Morris would have failed several mandatory FIA crash tests. McLaren could therefore be forced to miss the first winter tests in Jerez, together with Lotus which has already confirmed its absence from the first 1 F2014 test session.

A delay which could also force the team to show a provisional version of the car at the presentation on January 24th. A McLaren spokesperson said: “At this time of year it is normal for all teams to push to the limit to extract maximum performance and crash tests are no different. McLaren will pass all the tests before going on track."

According to rumors, Ron Dennis' return to the top of the team could also be linked to the problems of the new 2014 car.
