Is Mercedes still considering withdrawing from F1?
According to the English press, a farewell plan is already ready
According to the London newspaper The Times, Mercedes is ready to abandon Formula 1. After the rumors of shareholder discontent in recent weeks, attenuated by Nico Rosberg's victory in China, there is once again talk of a possible withdrawal of the German company from the premier category .
The indiscretion comes from journalist Kevin Eason according to whom while the top teams Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull will have members on the board of directors of the new F1 company which will be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, Mercedes has not received a similar offer.
“Why should Mercedes have a deal like the others?” said CEO Bernie Ecclestone. “What did they do in Formula 1?” also in reference to the different treatment received by Mercedes in the negotiations for the renewal of the Concordat Pact, which among other things has not yet been signed by the team.
“They won one race, that's all,” added Ecclestone.
According to Eason, Mercedes also has a plan ready for the disposal of the Brackley team, while Ecclestone has already denied the rumor that speaks of a 20% devaluation of the value of F1 in view of the listing on the stock exchange due precisely to the possible withdrawal of Mercedes.
