Mercedes will give up "Coanda" effect exhausts in the Brazilian GP

Norbert Haug revealed that Mercedes will probably not use the exhaust layout Coanda on the weekend of Brazilian Grand Prix.

La Mercedes he hasn't scored a point in five consecutive games, and the setup isn't offering the hoped-for advantages.

The team will have the opportunity to test the 2013 tires during free practice and Haug stated that the team, to better study the new tyres, will return to the old exhaust configuration, however the Mercedes sporting director confirmed that the Coanda layout it will also be used in 2013.

“We will certainly start without Coanda, we want to test the new tires without any influence, we have a lot of data that we can compare with those from the beginning of the year, and perhaps we could abandon Coanda for the whole weekend, I can say with certainty however that on Friday we will not use the Coanda layout ”. Haug said.

"Why? Because I believe that the exhausts have an influence on the heating of the tires, and both combinations with the lack of aerodynamic downforce that we have compared to the others can distort the data. So we thought that we will have more realistic data if we configure the car like the one at the beginning of the season, and we will work from there. But it is obvious that we will use Coanda next year as they bring benefits."

When asked if there was a small possibility of changing plans this weekend, Haug said: "Not at the moment."

Rosberg, raced with the old layout in Austin, and said the team's recent problems don't worry him about the future.

“I don't think about the past,” said Rosberg in reference to bad races.

“We have to give our best for next year. It will definitely be better next year – much better – people are starting to have an impact, I'm talking about the new people who have joined the team. All the new staff – and many new people have arrived – are making their mark so it will certainly be better."
