McLaren confirms Kovalainen for 2009

Heikki Kovalainen will remain at McLaren Mercedes also in 2009. The Woking team announced it during Thursday's Hungarian GP at the Hungaroring. The 26-year-old Finn has been at McLaren since this year, his contract included a single season with an option in favor of the team for renewal.

“We welcomed Heikki to the team at the beginning of the year. He is 'under contract and will race for us in 2009,'” said Martin Whitmarsh, CEO of McLaren Mercedes.
