The war in F1 continues behind the scenes

At the Nurburgring the war between FIA and FOTA continues behind the scenes, away from the spotlight, with a clear message: Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley have been progressively excluded from the negotiations. According to several sources, FOTA would have in fact taken advantage of Ecclestone's public gaffe on totalitarian regimes to bypass him and deal directly with CVC, the company that holds the commercial rights to Formula 1.

An agreement between the two parties could be imminent and at that point they could present themselves to Mosley and Ecclestone with the games already done: the two would therefore have no other choice than to sign or, in case of refusal, start the split.

A more complex theory instead claims that Ecclestone's FOM would also agree with FOTA and CVC, with only the FIA therefore isolated due to Mosley.

F1 is contractually linked to the FIA, but CVC could take the Federation to court claiming that Mosley's ideas are damaging its business. Another unconfirmed rumor claims that FOTA drafted a resignation letter for Mosley. If signed by the president, a rapid solution to the crisis would be achieved.
