Force India's 2012 car will debut on the first day of testing in Jerez next month. Technical director, Andrew Green, revealed that the VJM05, powered by the Mercedes engine, successfully passed the FIA's mandatory crash tests.
For the first time starting this year, teams will have to pass crash tests with their new cars before they can use them in winter testing.
“It's been a little tougher this year,” Green said. “There was a more challenging program to complete. The chassis was approved already in December."
Force India finished the 2011 season in sixth place, behind Renault/Lotus and the four top teams.
