The FIA makes official the number of tokens used by motorists during the winter
Mercedes chooses an aggressive strategy, Renault much more conservative
In an official note published on its website, the International Automobile Federation revealed the number of tokens used by each manufacturer during last winter. As expected, each engineer has implemented a different strategy to make the most of the thirty-two 'tokens' foreseen for this championship.
Ferrari decided to exploit twenty-two tokens, leaving ten for development during the year. Different story, however, with regards to Renault: the French have chosen a much more conservative path, using only twenty during the last winter break. Mercedes, the reference engine manufacturer in terms of performance, has instead chosen a much more aggressive strategy, preferring to exploit as many as twenty-five.
Honda, considering the tokens used by all engine engineers, will therefore only have nine 'tokens' available for development during the championship. Obviously, reliability interventions should not be considered.
