The FIA backtracks on the scoring system again for 2010

The controversial scoring system which, starting next year, would award the title to the driver with the highest number of victories has been canceled for now. After the recent session of the World Motor Sport Council, the FIA had published the rules for 2010, and in article 6.1 of the regulations it was stated that the title "will be awarded to the driver who arrives first in the greatest number of races during the year."

But the FIA's attempt to introduce the rules wanted by Ecclestone was vetoed by FOTA. After some discussion it seemed that the inclusion of Article 6.1 in the regulation published on 30 April was a simple mistake.

The article now reads that "the title will be awarded to the driver who scores the highest number of points."
