The FIA will decide on Red Bull's perforated floor before Canada
Ferrari and McLaren have not officially protested but are asking for clarity
The FIA, F1's governing body, has promised to intervene in the controversy surrounding Red Bull's flat bottom before the next race.
Ferrari and McLaren came close to officially protesting after Mark Webber's victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, but rather than being discussed yesterday, at a meeting in the Principality, it emerged that the FIA promised to issue a clarification on the provisions regarding 'holes' in the flat bottoms of the cars before the Canadian GP. “There is nothing new in F1 in seeing teams complaining when we have a competitive car”, insisted the team manager of the Austrian team, Christian Horner.
“All I can say is that we need clarification on this point”, explained Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali after the Monegasque race. According to Autosprint, McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh added: “It's not me who has to rule on the legality of a competitor's car, that's up to the FIA. But I believe it will be possible to obtain this clarification before the next race."
