Ferrari and Sauber passed the crash tests, Virgin will not be ready for the first test
The new Ferrari it passed the FIA's ritual crash tests, on the second attempt as ascertained by multiple sources.
It emerged last week that the new car codenamed 663 has undergone tests at the CSI Bollate plant near Milan, after tests initially failed.
The sources also said that the car will be monocoque "lighter" compared to that of 2011 and which has been reinforced with carbon sheets to make it resistant and allow it to pass side impact tests.
As and Marca report, citing Italian sources, that the second crash test was passed.
The reinforcements made to the car will have a “almost negligible” effect on lap times.
So after having passed the crash tests before the tests (new rule for 2012) the car will be able to debut on the track in the first days of next month, i.e. the tests in Jerez, after a short shakedown in Fiorano.
Spanish newspaper Marca also claims that there are unconfirmed rumors claiming that Ferrari has a design “revolutionary” and a “dolphin nose”.
The car will be tested (as already announced) by Felipe Massa for the first day and the second day of testing, after that Fernando Alonso he will have it for the third and fourth day.
This test list should also be repeated in the following test, that of Barcelona.
Even the new one Sauber powered by Ferrari, the C31, has passed the FIA crash tests, and will be shown to the public in Jerez on the eve of the start of testing.
Finally, the technical consultant ofMarussia Pat Symonds announced that the new car it won't be ready for the first Jerez test.
