Ferrari will try to bring KERS to Bahrain

Ferrari will try to reinstate KERS in the package it will bring for the Bahrain race. The team had decided not to bring the new system to China due to its lack of reliability and for security reasons. While Kimi Raikkonen did not care whether or not he had KERS in China, Felipe Massa – who is lighter than his teammate – admitted in Shanghai that in his case the absence of the system "is undoubtedly a handicap ."

The Brazilian then said: "this is an area on which we must work to return to using the system as soon as possible."

A new package for the F60 won't arrive until next month in Barcelona, but Ferrari team manager Stefano Domenicali said the team will try to put KERS back on the cars immediately.

"The machine will be the same as the one seen here," he revealed before leaving China, "although we will try to use KERS again."

While seven teams in Australia and Malaysia brought the new technology, in China there were only three teams that used KERS.

So far Renault has given up on using the new system and Flavio Briatore, one of the main opponents of KERS, told the Spanish press that the energy reuse system would be more useful if used as an "anchor at sea."

The Italian then continued: "We will analyze all the data and numbers. BMW was the most in favor of KERS and for now it seems to have put it aside. I think it was a big waste of money."

Brawn GP has not yet fitted the system to its cars, but team boss Ross Brawn believes KERS will be "a crucial aspect in the second half of the season."
