Kubica happy with third place in Spa

Robert Kubica said he was lucky to finish the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix after a critical moment on the second lap of the race. The Renault driver finished the race in third place.

On the second lap, while in second position, Kubica found himself in difficulty at Eau Rouge in the wet, losing a position to Jenson Button.

“On the second lap at Eau Rouge I saw Lewis Hamilton go wide, so I ended up wide too and tried to take the apex so as not to lose speed” declared the Pole. “But I lost the car completely, first on the left and then on the right. I was lucky to continue and even lost a position to Jenson. Then on the restart after the safety car I had little grip, I locked the tyres, first the front then the rear".

Kubica was passed by Sebastian Vettel into third at La Source on lap four after a mistake but returned to second after the incident between the German and the Englishman. Kubica then returned to third after running wide at the pitstop and thus lost a position to Mark Webber.
