The Enstone team is negotiating with a group of investors and a new team boss could arrive

Kobayashi could replace Grosjean at Lotus

Kamui Kobayashi has been tipped as a possible replacement for Romain Grosjean at Lotus by Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat.

In recent days there has been talk of Heikki Kovalainen's possible arrival at the Enstone team which is still evaluating whether to confirm Grosjean.

The Frenchman enjoys the support of Eric Boullier and sponsor Total but the numerous accidents that have seen him as a protagonist this year have pushed the team to carefully evaluate his reconfirmation.

According to journalist Heikki Hulta, Gerard Lopez, the owner of Genii Capital, owner of Lotus in F1, is considering the idea of teaming up a more consistent driver alongside Kimi Raikkonen.

“Kimi costs us a lot, but on the other hand he helps us in the constructors' championship, bringing more money to the team,” said Lopez.

While Raikkonen collected 207 points this year to finish third in the drivers' championship, Grosjean only finished eighth with 96 points. Lotus then finished the constructors' championship in fourth place.

According to Kulta, the Japanese Kobayashi, who raised a good budget thanks to a subscription from his fans on the Internet, has entered the running for Grosjean's place at Lotus.

“It's a shame for Romain not to have finished the season very well in Brazil, it's a problem,” Alain Prost told RMC Sport.

“What is more important, speed or reliability? That's what Lotus has to decide,” she added.

According to O Estado de S.Paulo, the Enstone team would be in negotiations with a group of investors, including Bernie Ecclestone, who could impose a new team boss, "much discussed", although "it is not Flavio Briatore"
