Karthikeyan aims for a seat in Force India

In recent days it has emerged that Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan would be a candidate for a seat in Force India for 2011.

Karthikeyan, thirty-three years old, was the first Indian to make his Formula One debut and spent the entire 2005 season behind the wheel of Jordan. The following year Eddie Jordan's team was sold and changed its name to Midland, then Spiker and now Force India, whose owner is the Indian VJ Mallya.

Currently in Force India the driver situation for 2011 is quite messy: Sutil doesn't have a contract yet, the team would like to keep him but he is aiming for a bigger team; Liuzzi has a contract for next year but no longer enjoys much consideration within the team; Paul di Resta has been promoted, on paper, to starting driver for the new season.

Karthikeyan, however, would bring around 8 million dollars from the sponsorship of Tata Motors which, in anticipation of next year's New Delhi GP, would like to increase its presence in the Circus, possibly by introducing a home driver within a team Indiana.
