Kaltenborn: “Our problem is not just the engine”

For Monisha Kaltenborn, Sauber's disappointing 2014, which saw it finish with zero points for the first time in its history, cannot be blamed solely on the Ferrari engine, which was unreliable and above all in a crisis of inspiration.

“We honestly didn't expect such an outcome – declared the Anglo-Indian boss to Autosport – Unfortunately the package available did not prove to be competitive, in particular from the chassis point of view. In itself the car wasn't bad, but we did better and now we have everything we need to progress and not repeat the same mistakes. Regarding the power unit, I don't think our supplier will be able to perform miracles, but he will certainly be able to make progress. We are likely to still see dominance but the gap between brands will be smaller.”
