Kaltenborn: “It is possible that Hulkenberg will stay”

The future of Nico Hulkenberg is one of the most talked about intrigues of the current drivers market, and in the meantime also the Clean joins the suitors for the German and made it known through the team principal Monisha Kaltenborn not to exclude that the German could remain.

The twenty-six year old German driver has been linked to many high caliber teams such as Mclaren, Ferrari and Lotus, as well as Force India.

The German driver's contract was effectively terminated this year due to Sauber's financial problems.

However, despite his exceptional competitiveness and speed, the German is in doubt for next season and by virtue of the new rules that will be introduced in 2014 regarding the weight of the car he could be at a further disadvantage.

It would be a great loss as after the splendid fourth place during Korean Grand Prix he was even crowned "man of the race" by the triple world champion, as well as chairman of Mercedes, Niki Lauda.

Hulkenberg, however, underlined that the race in Korea did not significantly change his prospects for his future.

“If someone is interested in me, they've probably been keeping an eye on me for a while, not just during a race.”

In fact, the German knows very well that an excellent performance is not a guarantee of a future in F1, in fact we remember that in 2010 he was dropped by Williams despite the extraordinary pole in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Furthermore, we must consider how paying drivers are now increasingly favored thanks to their agreements with sponsors, and unfortunately the German's agreement with Dekra is not sufficient.

However, Sauber has added itself to the German's suitors after the extraordinary performance in Korea.

“We have the possibility to keep him” admitted Monisha Kaltenborn on the sidelines of the Korean Grand Prix.

Hulkenberg is also running for a seat at the Lotus and the Boss Eric Boullie teamr praised it.

“We don't judge Nico with just one race, we've known him for a long time, and today he showed again what he can do, that is, drive among the leading drivers with a good car,” he told Auto Motor und Sport.

For his part, Hulkenberg laconically declared to the DPA news agency: "My cell phone is always on."
