Jos Verstappen: “Toro Rosso ideal team for Max”

Joseph Verstappen, former F1 driver and all-too-present father of the talented Max, spoke about his son's career, ensuring that Toro Rosso is the best possible team to continue growing.

“The most important thing for Max is to gain experience and the STR is an ideal environment from this point of view – said Verstappen senior – Max is a fighter, his first half of the championship went very well, he improved a lot by working hard. It's not easy to do well in qualifying when the tires have a very short operating window. Max is doing a good job and the team is satisfied. We too are happy with the direction taken by the team and the improvements in engine reliability." 

Jos has always been very demanding towards his son, it is said that even a few years ago he refused to say hello to Max for the entire journey home due to "the fault" of a second place in an international go-kart race in Campania . The current Toro Rosso driver has grown up quickly and with enormous pressure to manage. It shouldn't be surprising if in terms of approach and concentration he often looks older than the seventeen years he is.
