Jenson Button: Surprised by Red Bull's problems

A Jenson Button surprised by the fact that rival Red Bull, in Canada, has surrendered not only to the two McLarens, but also to two other teams but we know... McLaren has started quietly for some years and then blossomed throughout the its magnificence in the middle of the championship!

Although Red Bull has been the car to beat from the start of the championship, McLaren has managed to win more races and currently holds the lead in both championships and Button is firmly convinced that the good successes of Turkey and Canada are not sporadic episodes, but the relaunch for a new recovery.

“It was a big surprise to see the Red Bulls behind: in Canada they didn't do a double due to the accident between Vettel and Webber otherwise it would certainly have been a double result for them. They were extremely fast, we also did an excellent job and especially in the last races: we didn't base our studies only on top speed, but on the entire development of the weekend and now we are up front. In the drivers' standings I have a three-point lead over Webber, which isn't much, but we have races ahead of us whose characteristics match our car very well. For the next race in Valencia I believe that the Red Bulls will be very competitive as will the Ferraris and Mercedes.

I can't hide the fact that I'd like to arrive at the Great Britain round at the top of the championship, it's our home race, mine, Lewis's and McLaren's... but I think Hamilton would also like it."

Despite his confidence in the car and the work of his team, Button has no illusions about the potential of the competitors.

“If the values expressed on the field in Canada are the same, from now on it will be harder to win because Ferrari has strengthened itself just like Mercedes and just like Red Bull it is always a formidable opponent. Speaking of us, I heard that an important update will be brought to Great Britain, precisely for the home race.

The team environment is fantastic and I feel really happy. My relationship with the guys on the team and with the car has improved, but it's not all rosy: the car still needs to improve. The race pace was really good both in Turkey and Canada, but it still needs work to improve the qualifying, luckily I was able to speak in depth with the engineers to try to further optimize this somewhat critical point for me .

Lewis is truly phenomenal in qualifying and it is almost unthinkable to beat him, extremely fast. Luckily in the race our steps are closer, I tried to catch him in Canada, but I couldn't make it and that's probably how it was supposed to end. I congratulated him on his excellent work: he was really great all weekend."
