Jenson Button: “Everything happened in my race today”

Jenson Button is disappointed to have been forced to retire at his home grand prix at Silverstone.

“Before my last stop I had a great pace, and I was closing on Lewis, Sebastian [Vettel] and Mark. When they pitted, I stayed out for another lap and I think I would have come out alongside, or even ahead of, some of them.”

“But, as I left the pitlane, the right front wheel came off and I was forced to stop. It's disappointing – especially in front of the home crowd – because I was really, really happy with the race and I had good pace and I was enjoying a couple of good battles, especially with Felipe when I managed to pass him on the inside.”

“I think we gave the fans something to cheer about, but it was a shame we couldn't score some world championship points: whoever had the pace at the end of the race could have had a good chance, and I think today a podium was within our reach."
