Jacques Villeneuve: “I don't watch F1 anymore, it bores me”

The former Formula One world champion Jacques Villeneuve revealed that he can no longer stand to see the F1 and praised the NASCAR. The 1997 world champion has lost the affinity with the sport that made him champion, being one of many to have expressed his disappointment at seeing Vettel's dominance.

“I don't watch the races anymore. I've had enough, for the first time in my life,” Villeneuve told Reuters.

“They annoy me. Halfway through the race I start to yawn and it's hard... And I get angry. When I see these kids who can't even defend themselves, like Michael Schumacher in Canada, he should have been on the podium in Montreal,” he added.

The Canadian also admitted that he wasn't even impressed by the DRS: “I don't mind seeing overtaking done with the DRS. I'd rather see Lewis on the attack and rather see him finish this overtaking badly, but at least it's fun. All overtaking with DRS is boring, I fall asleep. It's useless, boring. This isn't racing. I don't understand how something like that is in an F1, why people think: 'Oh, now he's overtaking me, why should I worry?' and it's all there. There's no fun. Nothing".

Villeneuve had words of support towards Lewis Hamilton and his driving style: “Lewis races very aggressively and forgets to use his head from time to time and ends up crashing into others. He shouldn't be stopped, it's racing and that's what you want to see."

Jacques concluded with a statement about NASCAR: “It's so much fun. It reminds me why I started running. You get in the car and you're there to race and nothing can stop you, no rules, nothing. Is fantastic. Man against man, beast against beast. That is great. You make your way with your muscles, you can get around problems, I like it."
