IndyCar | Indy500, Alonso: “This year I want to fight for the victory”

Interviewed by the media shortly before flying to Indianapolis, scene of the historic Indy 500, Fernando Alonso spoke about his objectives for this year's edition, underlining how the hope is to finally fight for victory.

According to what the Spaniard declared, the McLaren has carried out a great deal of development work compared to last year's race, which should help the riders battle for the top positions in the standings. The race, we remember, will take place on August 23rd.

“I hope that this year we will be competitive enough to fight for the victory,” said Fernando Alonso. “Right now we are as optimistic as we were last year. We have to wait to see how much pace we have."

On the race he added: “The magic of Indy 500 it's the fans and having them so close. At Daytona and Sebring there was close contact with the fans which I will miss, but the fact that there are no fans doesn't take the pressure away, we will simply miss them."
