F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen incredible at Spa, continues to write history
“The car was unreal, incredible, really enjoyable to drive”
Max Verstappen wins the Belgian Grand Prix. The Dutchman recovers from sixth position, already recovering two at the start. It doesn't take long for Max to overtake easily first Hamilton, then Leclerc, until all he has left is his teammate in front. From the “fight” Perez he emerges stunned: it seems that the two are driving two totally different cars, with the Dutchman speeding next to Checo, immediately opening a considerable gap. From then on, Verstappen continues calmly towards the checkered flag, occasionally complaining about the wind, the degradation, with a few too many squabbles with Lambias, his race engineer. It's the forty-fifth victory for him, the eighth in a row: a fury that doesn't seem to want to give up. Impressive numbers, which have already shattered the records of the greats of this sport: with ten races still to go, who knows what this boy, already making history, will be able to do.
“Today Giampiero and I didn't argue, we were having fun. Of course, sometimes it happens – jokes the winner of the GP – without him we wouldn't have these results: it's a team effort. We know exactly what we need from each other, sometimes we even compare ourselves heatedly, but it's still important for the race. There was a lot of wind on the straight at the end, I had to keep a firm grip on the steering wheel, but the car was unreal, incredible, really pleasant to drive."
