Accident for Mark Webber at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo: in hospital for checks

Terrible accident for former Formula 1 driver, Mark Webber at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo. The Porsche driver, who after his farewell to the Circus, embraced the World Endurance Championship, when there was about half an hour left before the end of the race, violently impacted the side barriers of the curve that leads onto the straight of the Interlagos route. The Australian's Porsche 919 Hybrid collided with Matteo Cressoni's Ferrari 458 and the impact was so brutal that for a few minutes the worst was thought with the former Red Bull driver not getting out of the cockpit . Webber is fine, was pulled from LMP1, but waved as he was taken to the ambulance and will remain in Sao Paulo hospital for further checks.

“Mark is fine, but he had to go to hospital for further investigations. We spoke to him and he told us that we could go and see it,” underlined Fritz Enzinger, Porsche team principal. And the Australian himself is no stranger to spectacular accidents: the take-off which took place at the 2010 European Grand Prix and even on that occasion no damage was done to the driver, above all thanks to the safety cell of his Red Bull which he managed to keep.
