The announcement of the agreement between Lotus and Renault is imminent

Lotus will confirm its switch to Renault engines for the 2011 Formula 1 season during the August break, according to reports. The Malaysian team, currently powered by Cosworth engines, could announce the agreement within two weeks.

However, a week ago, the director of the French company's engine department, Rob White, said that an announcement on supply plans for 2011 was not imminent.

“We have the capacity to supply other teams in the future and we would like to do so if there were good opportunities for Renault and for the category in general,” White explained. “There are rumors circulating in the press, with different teams mentioned from time to time, but there is no imminent announcement.”

The original Lotus was powered by Renault engines between 1983 and 1986.
