There is optimism in the Italian team at the end of free practice

Friday satisfies Toro Rosso

The weekend opened under the banner of optimism at Toro Rosso at the end of free practice for the Grand Prix Bahrain Award. Additional components were introduced ahead of the race and the car appears to have responded well.

“We made progress throughout the day, after the first session which didn't go too well - has explained Daniel Ricciardo who finished 11th in the second free practice -. We lacked grip, but we knew what to do and what was needed, even if something didn't quite work on the track. The second session went better, as can be seen from the times.".

“The most important thing is the fact that the feeling with the car has improved. We still need to make further progress, we have had a first impression of the tires and I would say the best option is to manage the hot conditions well. I don't think anyone will make a single stop on Sunday and looking at the rear tires will be a priority."he concluded.

Statements which are echoed by the words of Chief Engineer Laurent Mekies: “Overall this was a very intense day of work for us. We're reasonably happy with what we got, made possible by the fact that both cars ran without any problems. It bodes well for the weekend and now we need to think about increasing our pace."

The other Toro Rosso driver, Jean-Eric Vergne, however, finished the second free practice 14th.
