Hamilton's father committed to bringing Formula 1 back to South Africa

The great Circus of Formula 1 could soon return to South Africa. After the last race which took place in 1993, the possibility of seeing Formula 1 cars racing again in the Ancient Continent is increasingly realistic, as Bernie Ecclestone himself confided. We are there at work to make this dream come true Anthony hamilton, father of the two-time Formula 1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, who for some years has been working on a project that would return the premier class of Motorsport to Africa, the only continent to date where there is no Grand Prix of Formula 1.

“I have wanted to bring Formula 1 back to South Africa for a long time and now we have a good opportunity to make our wishes come true. We'll see how things progress, but the plan is to return to racing in Africa in 2016“, underlined Bernie Ecclestone to the Press Association.

Despite what you might think, the South African Grand Prix will not be held in Kyalami, but in Cape Town. Furthermore, 2016 could already set a record: if the race actually returns to the Ancient Continent, with the one already confirmed in Azerbaijan, the next Formula 1 season will count a total of 22 Grands Prix during the year.
