Hamilton's father: “Bet on my son being World Champion”

Lewis Hamilton is still fighting for the 2011 Formula 1 world championship. His father, Anthony Hamilton, is convinced of this and no longer looks after his son's interests and is now the manager of the Force India rookie, Paul di Resta.

Even before his retirement complete with accidents in Canada, the Englishman from McLaren seemed resigned to Sebastian Vettel's escape: "He's gone, now his path is clear."

Then after the Montreal race, Hamilton found himself in the standings behind his teammate Jenson Button and Mark Webber, 76 points behind Vettel.

“For me, Valencia will be a consolation weekend after two negative results in Monaco and Canada,” said Hamilton.

But his father said he was optimistic: “If I were a bettor, I would bet on Lewis being world champion this year,” Anthony told the Daily Mail. “You will be surprised. He can do it."

“We have had the fastest car in the race in the last three Grands Prix, which is very encouraging because I know I could win.”
