Robert Kubica's manager is convinced about the Polish driver's return next year

Robert Kubica's manager has denied that the Pole will not be ready to race at the start of the 1 Formula 2012 season.

Rumors circulated on Wednesday that Kubica will miss the start of next year's season as he is yet to recover from his dramatic crash in a rally car earlier this year.

“Although I have worked a lot over the last few weeks, I have come to the conclusion that I am not yet certain that I am ready for the 2012 season, so I called the team and informed them of the situation,” Kubica was quoted as saying in a Renault statement. .

On Thursday, however, his manager Daniele Morelli said that it is not true that Kubica has ruled out being back on track for the start of the season, claiming instead that for now he is only uncertain about the first pre-season test.”

Morelli also said that Kubica's current contract expires at the end of this year and not at the end of 2012, as claimed by Renault, which said it was in talks with Kubica's management about the possibility of extending until 2013 .

“I don't understand why Renault changed Robert's words,” Morelli said in an interview. “It's not true that he won't be ready for 2012. He said he wasn't sure about his fitness for the first tests in February.”

“We count and hope to be ready, but in any case the delay will be a few months, 2013 has never been mentioned. Renault wants to go its own way when it comes to drivers, while we want to look for alternative solutions.”

“[The contract] does not extend to 2012, it ends at the end of December, so from January 1st we will be free to go in any direction.”

Morelli is convinced that Kubica will return to Formula 1 and will be as strong as before.

“If Robert comes back it's because he wants to be like before, competitive and coveted by the top teams,” he said.

“He's a little overweight, but his right leg is almost the same as his left leg. His elbow will be free from any metal support next week.”

“The sensitivity of the hand is OK, the only limit is strength: the forearm muscles have been immobilized for a long time so there is a lot of work to do, but it's a matter of time, by the end of January the force should be adequate.”

He also said Kubica wants to get back behind the wheel and gradually, and ruled out a test with a kart to begin with.

“Not with a kart, because the vibrations are too extreme and because of the lack of power steering. We will start little by little and see the responses after almost a year of inactivity.”

“The hard times were in September/October when forearm rotation was limited and progress wasn't as rapid. But in the last month there has been a nice acceleration..”
