Bottas' manager downplays Ferrari's interest
Bottas is managed by Toto Wolff and therefore would be Mercedes' chosen one
Valtteri Bottas' manager played down the rumors that they wanted a clear cut interest of Ferrari towards his client. According to rumors leaked by the Italian newspaper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Maranello would have thought about the current Williams driver for replace Kimi Raikkonen at the end of the next championship. Thanks to the excellent championship he contested, the Finnish driver managed to finish in fourth place in the Drivers' Championship, 21 points behind Sebastian Vettel, fifth, and 25 points behind Fernando Alonso, sixth. Yet Ferrari could find itself the barred door, as Bottas' current boss, Claire Williams, recently confirmed.
The Williams Finn is managed by Toto Wolff and therefore he would be the one chosen by Mercedes in the event of Lewis Hamilton's farewell. Ferrari, therefore, would be a valid option only if the Englishman decided to renew his contract with the Stuttgart Scuderia until after 2016. “Valtteri will continue at Williams next season too. It's still too early to talk about 2016, but I'm sure we're going in the right direction – confirmed Mika Hakkinen, also an integral part of his compatriot's management – For Bottas this was a fantastic season in which he achieved two second places and four other podiums which proved useful in showing the great work being done at Williams."
