Permits granted for the resurfacing of the road surface

The F1 New Jersey GP could return to the calendar in 2014

New Jersey is back in contention to host an F1 Grand Prix in 2014, according to promoter Leo Hindery. The city race was supposed to debut on this year's calendar but the organizers were unable to obtain the necessary permits to start work.

Hindery told Sports Business Daily: "I think Bernie Ecclestone made absolutely the right decision in postponing the event," he said. “But we have resumed work. We have had the permits that we didn't have last year, and we will be able to host the race easily, probably in mid-2014 with the support of Ecclestone,” he added.

Ecclestone, however, had made it clear that the problems of the tender did not only concern authorizations and resurfacing: "There is a problem that concerns the people who started the project, and I think it is mainly a financial problem."
