The Monza GP goes green
Ten thousand trees will be planted to offset the tons of CO2 emitted
On Thursday during a meeting held in Rome Aci ed Eco Store have signed an agreement for the compensation of the 12 thousand tons of CO2 emitted by the Circus during the Monza GP, not only from the cars, but also from the motorhomes and technical vehicles of the teams to reach the facility.
The project, sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment, will involve the planting of ten thousand trees and in compliance with the "joint implementation" mechanism envisaged by the Kyoto Protocol, this will take place in Alaska and Madagascar.
Some of the plants will bear the name of two and four wheel champions, of yesterday and today, chosen by Italians, who will be able to vote for their favorite driver on the Automobile Club's website and Facebook page.
“We have embarked on a new path for the world of car racing – he explained Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of ACI – The Italian GP has always been synonymous with history and tradition, but also with innovation and our racetrack always offers the best, every year and for every race”.
For Alessandro Gerardi, sole director of Eco Store, “this is an initiative that is part of the company's philosophy aimed at concrete actions to respect the environment and eco-sustainability. A race is a polluting event, so being able to eliminate the environmental impact is an extraordinary fact."
