The Sauber drivers' comments at the end of free practice at Hockenheim
On track Sutil, Gutierrez and Giedo van der Garde
The first test session for the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim was characterized by sunny weather and high outside and asphalt temperatures. In the morning, Adrian Sutil and reserve driver Giedo van der Garde concentrated on set-up work. In the second session, regular driver Esteban Gutierrez took the wheel of the C33 again. The performance of the C33 was good on the single fast lap, there is still a lot to do with the long runs.
Esteban Gutiérrez: “I tried to make up for this morning's program, given that I didn't run in the first free practice sessions. We are currently looking for different vehicle settings, today we went in different directions. Now we will analyze the data in order to subsequently adopt a good vehicle set up for tomorrow."
Adrian Sutil: “It was a difficult day. At high temperatures it was not easy to find a good set-up. However, it was the same for all the other teams. Due to the extremely high track temperatures, it was difficult to work with the tyre, and I often oversteered. However, I believe that today is a point ahead for us, since we close the top 10. The goal for tomorrow is to maintain this performance."
Giedo van der Garde: “It was a good training session. I was able this morning to go through our schedule as planned and work on adjusting the vehicle. We tried different things, some of which worked less well. I think the team is satisfied with my indications on the C33. I didn't focus on the fast lap times, but rather on the tires and worked on the set up."
