The Valencia circuit will be the only Grand Prix in Spain from next year
Valencia will be the only Spanish Grand Prix next year. This was announced by Radio Valencia, but also by Cadena SER, the first radio in Spain. Rumors say that Valencia, the port city on the Iberian Peninsula and host of last Sunday's European Grand Prix, is expected to become the Spanish Grand Prix in 2012 and beyond.
Also on Thursday, the mayor of Valencia Rita Barbera told EFE News Agency that the city would like to bring forward the date of the competition in the future.
In May, the Barcelona circuit hosted the other race on Spanish soil.
The agreement that Valencia will be the only Spanish F1 Grand Prix was established by a verbal agreement, which will shortly be put into writing.
The new deal for the event, apparently confirmed by Bernie Ecclestone this weekend, would extend to 2021 and assign Valencia the May date, usually given to the Catalonia circuit.
