US GP boss in favor of artificial rain
Tavo Hellmund, organizer of the 2012 US GP, described Bernie Ecclestone's idea of artificially irrigating the tracks as "brilliant".
Ecclestone stated that it would be easy to build a similar facility on "a number of tracks", and one of these could be the one currently being built in Texas.
The Austin American Statesman reports that Hellmund called wet racing “spectacular and exciting,” and it allows true talent to express itself.
Furthermore, he explained that the system would be possible because the Texan circuit is in the initial stages of construction.
The construction would be possible because, writes the newspaper, it became known that the organizers have received 12.5 million dollars from ten private investors, whose identity is unknown.
The first GP on the new track would be scheduled for mid-2012, pairing the GP with that of Canada.
